Thought I would intersperse my XPro-2 fanboy gushing with a more project related post. Don't worry gear-heads I've got a bunch more notes on the XPro-2 I'll be sharing. Just cannot help myself. I'm getting to a point where I am liking my Fuji X-System stuff almost as much as my Nikon F3 and FM's and such.
The last update with Allie and ramblings on the chastity project was a revelation on my part that what I was after with this project only happens here and there, over time spent with no particular regard to schedule or my personal state of mind. It's not something I can schedule or count on coinciding with my particular head space in terms of being on or off.
That last update left off visually with the introduction of a couple of props much later in the day after I was done making pictures. Above is the first frame made with introduction of a few more props at the point prior to Allie transitioning to a more static state. Not exactly the frame but this is what I want. Compositionally it leaves a lot to be desired. There are things left out that should be in. Without any other context there's no story at all. Technically it's not perfect but honestly that's okay, maybe even desirable for what I want the project to look like.
What followed from that first frame was particularly interesting frame by frame. I'll include a few that is a combination of the gesture and expression that caught my eye as well as my progression in compositional choices/refinements real-time. Above Allie's eye line works but I didn't like the overall geometry.
Adjusting composition quickly Allie's expression changed to something a bit more defiant which is perfect and a lot of the feel I am going for with the project even if not this particular over the top context.
I really liked that particular compositional treatment and feel so I worked that for a few more frames with minor refinements as well as some positioning of Allies shoes that were moving fairly fast. Here's the XPro-2 fanboy shout-out; Even though still experimenting with various operational options and my first time out with the new Fuji — No lag, extremely responsive, responsive enough for me to place moving shoes at a foot or two away exactly where I wanted them to be.
I'll have to decide later if I like the one above or the prior frame best. Always a tough call for me as I like the position of the shoe in the lower right better above but don't know if I like more of the main prop exposed or less. A balance I have to figure out later for the contexts and backdrops I have in mind for the project.
The last frame from that compositional theme ended with Allie's expression transitioning from defiance to acquiescence. Maybe even a bit in between which is the bit of area I definitely want to explore in other more mundane contexts down the road.
Just a few notes to myself for reference as I think about where I'm going to take the Chastity project and how I'm going to arrange that to happen given my time-spent revelations.
All pictures made with the Fuji XPro-2 and 18mm f/2 R. Processing via Lightroom CC with VSCO FILM05 BW400CN (I think, I may have changed it up for this set. Don't feel like looking right now.)
